Unique Features: This is a circuit of dramatic contrast, featuring a super-fast 6km track wit a 2.2km main straight, one of the longest in F1. It's medieval Old City section has one of the the narrowest corners in turn 8, creating an urban rollercoaster with high speeds, heavy braking, and a risk of chaos.
The circuit was created in 2016 as a showcase of Baku's modern skyline alongside its historic old town. Known for it's distinctive characteristics and challenging street layout, the now iconic track was designed by renonwed circuit architect Hermann Tilke.
As well as a visual contrast, the tracks technical contrast of speed and precision make it a stand out.

Baku City Circuit is located in the heart of Baku, making it very easily accessible if you're staying in the city.
Flying to Baku: Most international visitors arrive via Heydar Aliyev International Airport and is well connected with direct flights from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. It is located around 25km northeast of Baku with a travel time of approximatley 30-40 minutes to the city centre.
By Metro: Baku's Metro system is one of the most convinient ways to reach the circuit with several stations being within walking distance of the track, including Sahil, Icherisheher, and 28 May. These services are frequent, affordable, and very well organised during race weekend, ideal for avoiding road closures and traffic congestion during the race weekend.
By Taxi / Ride-Hailing Apps:
Taxis are widely used in Baku with Bolt and Uber operating throughout the city. There are dedicated drop-off zones in place near the circuit but expect heavier traffic before and after sessions, especially near the old city.
By Bus: Baku's public bus network also serves the city centre with multiple stops near Baku Boulevard and central landmarks. This service is useful for reaching areas not directly connected by the metro. It should be noted that services may be rerouted due to road closures during the Grand Prix.
On Foot: As stated, if you're staying in central Baku, walking is the best option. Many hotels are within a 10 to 20 minutes walk from the circuit and pedestrian access is very well managed with clear signage and security checks. Walk to the circuit avoids traffic delays and offers incredible views of the city and it's waterfront.
