In Austin, Texas, Formula 1 will return for an exciting US Grand Prix. Three action filled days will unfold at the Circuit of the Americas as fans can expect a trio of practices, qualifier round, rounding it all off with the big event.

Unique Features: Circuit of the Americas is a purpose-built entertainment complex, not just a racetrack. It's known for it's drastic elevation changes, particuarly the blind uphill climb to Turn 1, blending iconic corners from other tracks like Silverstone and Suzuka. It also features a towering observation tower that stands at 251 feet and offers panormaic views.

The track was first opened in 2012 to become the first purpose-built Formula 1 track in the United States, and was established to be the permanent home for the United States Grand Prix.

It was designed by famous track architect Hermann Tilke, COTA features a recognisable 5.51 km layout with dramatic elevation changes. Since hosting it's first US Grand Prix, COTA has delivered consistently exciting racing and large crowds, hosting other huge events like MotoGP, endurance racing, and live music events, cementing its status as one of the premier motorsport venues in the world.

How to get to the Circuit of the Americas

By Air: Austin is served by a single airport, Austin-Bergstrom, which is used for domestic flights. Two larger international airports, Houston and Dallas Forth Worth, offer more choice.

  • From the UK: London Heathrow offers the only direct flight to Austin Bergstrom. For more options, consider flying to Dallas Fort Worth or Houston. All direct flights are still from Heathrow but more there is more airlines to choose from.

  • From within the USA: There are ample domestic flights to the city on Grand Prix weekend with airlines like Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, Southwst, United, and Alaska Airlines all offering direct connections.

  • For Europe: Apart from London, the only other European city that flies direct to Austin is Frankfurt with Lufthansa. Travelling either to Dallas Fort Worth or Houston instead will allow you more options, including flying direct from Paris and Amsterdam.

Getting to Downtown Austin:

It's normally a 35 minute journey to downtown Austin from the aiport.

  • By Car: If renting a car, you'll find options at the airport inlcuding Avis, Enterprise and Hertz. Driving direct to the track can be easier than going via downtown, but traffic should still be expected on race weekend.

  • By Shuttle: An airport shuttle service runs every 15 minutes, driving passengers to several pick up/drop off points in the city. Top tip: You will need the exact change for the $1.75 fare or use the CapMetro app.

  • By Taxi/Lyft/Uber: One of these methods costs around $30-50, depending on the time of day and your exact destination.
