Everton history

Everton Football Club, founded in 1878 are one of the founding members of the English Football League that was established in 1888. The club was originally based in Anfield before relocating to Goodison Park in 1892. The club quickly established themselves as one of the top sides in England, having significant success during the 1920s and 30s. Everton were league champions in 1890-91 and went from strength to strength from that point onwards.

The club's strongest period was during the 1960s, 70s and 80s, winning numerous FA Cup trophies, First Division titles and even a European Cup Winners Cup in 1985. The Toffees have struggled during the Premier League era, failing to secure any silverware despite being a constant presence in the top division. They will be hoping their move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium will spark a new successful chapter in the Premier League.

Everton Achievements & Honors

While Everton may not be as decorated as their Liverpudlian counterparts, the Toffees have still had plenty of success. With 9 league titles Everton have the 5th most in England, ahead of teams like Chelsea and Newcastle. Despite the club's proud and successful history it has been 30 years since they secured their last major trophy, something they will be hoping to change in this ‘New Era’ of Everton.

Current Squad

Everton have developed a strong spine to their squad, with the likes of Jordan Pickford, Jarrad Branthwaite and Iliman Ndiaye being key players for the Toffees. Everton are a strong Premier League outfit, with proven experience all over the pitch. The club might be hoping to bring in a little more star power to compliment their modern new stadium.

The squad has certainly struggled to maintain consistency over recent seasons, with multiple managers coming in and out. With the return of David Moyes the Toffees will be looking to find more stability that can see them move their way back up the table and back fighting for a spot in Europe.

Not only have they been a consistent presence in England's top divisions, they have actually played in the top division more for more seasons than any other club in the country, 123 seasons out of 127.

Everton is a community built club with a deep rooted connection to both the city and the fans, with a fan base that spans generations they hold a strong local following. After over a century at Goodison Park the club has certainly built a legacy, as one of the most trusted and authentic football clubs in the country.
