Crystal Palace Tickets

Crystal Palace History

Crystal Palace Football Club was founded in 1905, with roots linking back to an amateur side from 1861, making it one of the oldest footballing institutions in the world. After turning professional, Palace joined the Southern League before becoming part of the Football League in 1920. Since 1924, Selhurst Park in South London has been their permanent home. The club’s history has been marked by dramatic highs and lows, including multiple promotions and relegations across divisions, financial crises, and near collapses.

Palace have enjoyed relative stability since returning to the Premier League in 2013, steadily building a reputation for resilience, passionate support, and an attacking brand of football. Their status shifted from survival mode to competitive consistency under managers like Roy Hodgson and more recently Oliver Glasner, who helped deliver the club’s most successful period to date.

Crystal Palace Achievements & Honours

Crystal Palace’s proudest moment came in the 2024–25 season when they lifted the FA Cup for the first time in their history, defeating Manchester City 1–0 in a memorable final at Wembley. The victory not only ended a long wait for major silverware after previous final defeats in 1990 and 2016 but also secured their first-ever qualification for European competition.

Current Squad

Under the management of Oliver Glasner, appointed in February 2024, Crystal Palace has developed a balanced and competitive squad. With a strong core squad starting from the goalkeeping department which is led by Dean Henderson, whose performance was pivotal in the FA Cup victory. Glasner’s system makes use of wingbacks making both Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell vital cogs in the Palace side.

It’s Eberichi Eze who is the real star player in the squad, not only is he one of Palace’s most consistent performers he’s also a big game player. He showcased this in the FA Cup final, scoring the winning goal. This Crystal Palace side's quality is unquestionable; the difficulty for the South London club will be keeping the squad together, in the hopes of replicating their recent success.

Fanbase and Reputation

Crystal Palace boasts one of the most passionate and loyal fanbases in English football. The Holmesdale Fanatics, known for their vibrant support, create an electric atmosphere at Selhurst Park, making it a challenging venue for visiting teams. The club’s deep-rooted connection to the South London community is evident through various outreach programs and initiatives. The 2024–25 FA Cup victory galvanized the fanbase, celebrating a historic achievement and reinforcing the club’s status in English football. This moment allowed the club to truly showcase their incredible support as countless fans gathered around London for their historic trophy parade. This moment was further enhanced when the club received a guard of honour from Liverpool FC in a remarkable display of mutual respect, as both sides celebrated their trophy-winning seasons.
