Fulham Football Club, founded in 1879, is recognised as the oldest professional football club in London. Originally known as Fulham St Andrew’s Church Sunday School FC, the club has called Craven Cottage its home since 1896, a historic stadium located along the River Thames in West London. Fulham turned professional in 1898 and joined the Football League in 1907, gradually building a loyal following throughout the 20th century.
The club has spent much of its history bouncing between divisions, with its first taste of top-flight football arriving in 1949. Fulham gained prominence in the early 2000s following significant investment from Mohamed Al-Fayed, which saw the club rise from the third tier to the Premier League in just a few seasons. Their most memorable modern campaign came in 2009–10 when they reached the UEFA Europa League final, only to fall short against Atlético Madrid. Under current manager Marco Silva, Fulham have stabilised in the Premier League and continue to grow both on and off the pitch.
While Fulham are not among England’s most decorated sides, the club has achieved some impressive milestones throughout its long history. They have won multiple league titles in the lower divisions and produced deep cup runs both domestically and in Europe. The club’s highest achievement remains their UEFA Europa League final appearance in 2010, a remarkable run that included victories over Juventus, Wolfsburg and Hamburg.

Entering their fourth Premier League season since their promotion in 2021/22, Fulham have been a consistent presence in the league under Marco Silva. While Silva is arguably seen as the key to Fulham’s success in regaining stability as a midtable Premier League side, the club's recruitment has also been crucial.
The addition of experienced Premier League stars such as Andreas Pereira, Alex Iwobi and the club's record signing in Emile Smith Rowe have all helped in developing the core of the squad. But it's been the breakout stars such as Antonee Robinson and Rodrigo Muniz who have put in some of the biggest performances for the club, that has been vital in helping Fulham push their way up the table.
Fulham have built a reputation as one of the most community-driven and family-friendly clubs in English football. Known for their respectful and passionate supporters, Fulham fans have stuck by their team through multiple relegations and promotions. The club maintains a strong connection to the local community, with many fans living in the surrounding Hammersmith and Fulham area.
Craven Cottage remains one of the most charming and traditional stadiums in England, and it plays a key role in the club’s identity. Despite competition from bigger London rivals, Fulham’s fanbase continues to grow, both domestically and internationally, particularly after their recent Premier League success and European adventures. The club’s reputation for developing young talent and playing entertaining football has further boosted its profile in recent years.
