Fulham v Coventry City History

Head-to-head record

Fulham wins - 16

Coventry City wins - 14

Draws - 9

Fulham and Coventry first met in the old Second Division in 1919. Jimmy Hill is the figure who ties their stories together. He starred for Fulham in the 1950s. As chairman of the players' union, he also led the campaign that scrapped football's maximum wage in 1961. Later that year, he took over at Coventry. His "Sky Blue Revolution" took the club into the First Division for the first time in 1967. Decades later, Hill returned to Fulham as chairman and helped steer the club away from a proposed merger with Queens Park Rangers.

That 1967 promotion set up the clubs' first top flight meetings. Fulham won 3-0 at Highfield Road that November. Yet Fulham haven't beaten Coventry at Craven Cottage since 1948. Coventry's three visits since then have brought two draws and a Coventry win. The most recent of those came in 2021/22, when Coventry won both meetings. Fulham still went on to win the Championship title that season.
