Unique Features: Also known as Interlagos circuit, it is unique for it's counter clock-wise layout and severe elevation changes that are comparable to of a rollercoaster. The track demands extreme physical effort and car control to navigate it's bumpy surface and challenging 'Senna S' corners. The high altitude can have an extreme impact on engine performance and the unpredictablity of localised rain on the track adds strategic chaos.
The track was opened in 1940, constructed around two artificial lakes, from which the name Interlagos (between the lakes) derived. 1973 saw the arrival of the first Brazilian Grand Prix on the F1 calander but after safety concerns in the 80s, moved temporarily to Rio de Janeiro. The Grand Prix returned in the 90s however after Interlagos underwent major renovations, resulting in a shorter but much faster and safer circuit.
It has provided the sport with some of the most legendary moments in it's history, with title deciders in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2012, including Lewis Hamilton's renowned final corner championship victory in 2008.
The iconic circuit is beloved for its flowing rythm, akin to the crowd atmosphere, narrow layout, and famous sections like the Senna S, Descida do Lago, and the long uphill drag straight to the finish line.
With a range of grandstand and hospitality packages available, it's no wonder that the Brazilian Grand Prix is one of the most sought after racing weekends on the F1 calander.
