Riyadh Air Metropolitano Overview
Venue: Riyadh Air Metropolitano
Stadium Capacity: 70,460
Stands: Fondo Norte | Fondo Sur | Lateral Este | Lateral Oeste
The Metropolitano Stadium, renamed the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in October 2024, has been Atlético Madrid’s home since 2017. Replacing the beloved Vicente Calderón, the stadium was built to offer modern infrastructure, sustainable design, and an elevated matchday experience. With a capacity of over 70,000, it stands as one of Spain’s most advanced football venues.
It hosted the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final and regularly welcomes European and international fixtures. The stadium’s enclosed bowl design enhances the acoustics, while updated hospitality areas and digital access points have kept it among Europe’s best-equipped grounds.
Getting to the Stadium
By Metro: Line 7 of the Madrid Metro takes fans directly to Estadio Metropolitano station, located just outside the stadium. Extra trains are scheduled on matchdays, and services continue late into the evening.
By Bus: EMT Madrid buses serve the stadium area with multiple routes including 28, 38, 48, 140, 153, E2, and N5. Drop-off points are located on Avenida de Arcentales, a short walk from the ground.
By Car: The stadium sits just off the M-40 ring road. Limited on-site parking is available and should be reserved in advance. Overflow options are located within 10–15 minutes’ walk of the stadium entrance.
By Taxi: Licensed taxis are available across the city and can drop passengers close to the gates. Post-match queues are common, so alternative return transport is recommended for high-attendance fixtures.
By Foot or Bike: Pedestrian routes and cycling lanes connect the Metropolitano with nearby neighbourhoods. Bike racks are available around the perimeter, though these are limited and filled quickly on matchdays.
