Brentford are a West London football club that were established on October 10th 1889. After bouncing between some of the lower levels of English football, the club had its most successful period after the appointment of manager Harry Curtis. This then saw them become Third Division South champions in 1932-33 and Second Division champions in 1934-35. Their promotion from the second division was also the first time the club had been promoted to England’s top division, securing a 5th place finish in the 1935-36 season, which was their highest ever league finish. After relegation the club quickly found itself falling down the league divisions after financial troubles and instability. It wasn't until the 2020-21 season that finally saw the Bees return to the top flight, largely thanks to former manager Thomas Frank.
Brentford FC have enjoyed success across England’s lower divisions, winning titles in the Championship, League One, and League Two. Their promotion to the Premier League in 2021 marked a major milestone, establishing the club among the country’s top sides for the first time in over 70 years.
The 2025/26 season has brought major change for Brentford following the departure of long-time manager Thomas Frank and key players such as Bryan Mbeumo, leaving uncertainty over how the team would adapt. New boss Keith Andrews, formerly the club’s set-piece coach, has already made his influence clear, focusing on quick transitions, physical battles, and maximising set-piece opportunities. Standout performers so far include the pacey Kevin Schade, the creative Mikkel Damsgaard, and Michael Kayode, who has quickly become known for his long throws.
While Brentford don’t have the largest fanbase in English football, the club have a strong local backing. Their support has continued to grow since moving to the Gtech Community Stadium in 2020, attracting more local and international fans. The club have also become one of the most innovative and best-run sides in the country, using data-driven decision-making throughout all areas of the organisation. This has been particularly noticeable in their recruitment over recent seasons, often buying low and selling high. Players such as Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney, and Bryan Mbeumo are just a few notable examples of this successful approach.
